Ford Authority spies have spotted yet another Blue Lightning 2022 Ford Ranger Raptor driving around, though this time, it isn’t equipped with any sort of bed topper.
Following its reveal in late February, the next-generation 2022 Ford Ranger Raptor was spotted by Ford Authority spies in early April finished in a gray hue. Those same spies then came across a 2022 Ford Ranger Raptor in Blue Lightning late last month, though that particular model was wearing a camouflaged bed cap designed to hide whatever lurked underneath.
Ranger Raptor - No Topper This Time?
For the longest time, vehicles have been available overseas – however, you define overseas – and not available in the good old U.S. of A. Vehicles like the midsized VW pickup, the Amarok, and its derivative, the midsized Ford Ranger, haven't been available here.
Powerplant Problems Have Limited Availability
One of the reasons the Amarok and its Ford counterpart, the Ranger Raptor, hasn't made its way here is simple. The vehicle has only one powerplant available, diesel. The country hasn't looked favorably on additional diesel vehicles for at least five years, probably more.
That situation is changing in a big way in 2023 as plans show that the Ford Ranger Raptor will make its way to this side of the pond, having been available only...
Ford is willing to share everything, apart from all the good stuff.
It's no secret that Ford and Volkswagen saved a decent chunk of money by co-developing their next-generation trucks. The all-new Ranger and Amarok will share the same underpinnings, reaching a much wider audience.
Does that include the niche performance segment, however? While Ford wasn't the first to build a performance truck, it was arguably the first to successfully sell it to the masses. The word "Raptor" means something, and we thought it highly unlikely that Ford would want to share that part of the development. Then we found out that VW is working with a separate entity (Walkinshaw) to design a performance Amarok.
And now, a Ford executive has confirmed what we...
Ford has announced some good news for US customers, but some bad news for its rivals. The all-new 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor will be coming to US shores. As US customers envied their friends across the pond who did get the previous model, it was sadly not available in the US. Things will be different as the Ford Ranger Raptor will be sold in America. However, it will face stiff competition against the highly popular and very capable Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. So here is how they both compare on paper.
What To Expect From The 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor
The 2023 Ranger Raptor is Ford’s smallest truck that will receive special treatment from the Performance team. We are aware that the new-generation Ranger Raptor will use a twin-turbo 3.0-liter...
The 2023 twin-turbocharged Ford Raptor Ranger is equipped with 292kW of power and 583Nm of torque driving through a 10-speed automatic transmission, is projected to be released in the US and Canada the second half of this year (2022) and it seems to be one tough cookie!
As a matter of fact, the rumor is the standing-start to 100km/h (60ish MPH) is around 5.5 seconds. Absolutely amazing that a 2.5 ton pick-up truck can get to this speed in that short of time!
But to throw in even more "whoa" is what the aftermarket can provide for these Ranger Raptors. In Australia, there are a few usual suspects who have already expressed interest in the new Raptor, and two of them confirmed to us that they’ll be giving the V6 petrol Raptor their...
Ford unveiled the next-gen Ranger Raptor (RR) in February 2022 and I has been the talk of the Ford community! This current 2023 model is a huge improvement than the outgoing model, we (USA and Canada) will finally get the Ranger Raptor, since it's been gone for over a decade. Ford finally realized that there is a high demand for these mid size trucks in these 2 countries. So, they announced that they will be here on our soil soon.
Now that we know its official and the RR is making its way here from overseas, let's break down the truck! Ford finally moved it to a new platform after basing it on the T6 architecture for 11 years. The new 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor also comes with an upgraded suspension setup, updated exterior aesthetics...
2023 Ford Ranger Raptor
It's been months about details of the all new Ranger and Ranger Raptor and when consumers will able to get their hands on one. Well, finally that information has been released. Yesterday (2/23/22), Ford CEO Jim Farley responded to a tweet on Twitter from a fan that questioned the US version of the Ranger and Ranger Raptor.
While this isn’t exactly new news, it is nice to receive confirmation from Farley himself. To date, Ford has also remained mum on when it will reveal the U.S.-spec 2023 Ford Ranger and Ranger Raptor, though those models will share many similarities with their international market counterparts, save for some possible tweaks, including likely powertrain differences.
2023 Ford Ranger
Ford introduced the Ranger Raptor in Europe in August 2018 and now it's already replacing the brawny truck with the next-gen model. The rumors were true as the midsize pickup is indeed getting a larger 3.0-liter V6 EcoBoost. It's not making the full-fat 400 horsepower available in the Explorer ST, but it still packs plenty of punch for this segment.
The twin-turbo mill has been detuned to 288 hp and 491 Nm (362 lb-ft), which means it's down on torque by 53 lb-ft (72 Nm) compared to the performance SUV. Nevertheless, these are some healthy numbers considering the old Ranger Raptor with its EcoBlue engine had 210 hp and only a bit more torque, at 391 lb-ft (500 Nm). As before, the output is channeled to the road via a ten-speed...
